I founded the Indie Game Reading Club in 2010. I've written and developed RPGs since the mid-90s, now I mostly talk about playing them.

Whoa, you’re bringing me back. Traveller was my main game in high school…most excellent.

Big ol’ “Harumph!” party in here. Too many onions in your collective belts?

In all my years I’ve never actually played Traveller. Characters were made but never actually got around to playing.

One year, I’ll play Traveller.

We’ve played it quite a bit. The only thing I find myself not liking is the slow-to-nonexistent character advancement.

Ulf Bengtsson true fact: I think character advancement is a very hard hole to fill with anything other than character advancement. I’m experimenting with a thing in one of my designs but lordy. It is hard to come up with a more effective carrot than the promise of becoming more effective.
Ninja’ed.
For me is Kata Kumbas. The cover has nothing to do with the game though. http://www.john-howe.com/portfolio/gallery/data/media/63/Kata-Kumbas-port.jpg

I’m kind of in love with cover art that totally mis-sells games, too.

The traveller cover at least does not missell anything. The game is stark and space is dark and cold.
great choice!
i remember buying Vampire: the Masquerade and thinking it was going to be about gardening or botany, imagine my surprise
Adam McConnaughey in contrast Nobilis actually IS about botany. https://plus.google.com/photos/…
Paul Beakley I love the Jorune La Pieta!
Beautiful choice. Also might make Jason Corley happy.
Haha trick question! Nothing makes Jason Corley happy!
Actually it’s pretty good……..
….still!

Robb Brennan has got you covered with Traveller World. When we play Traveller now, I basically use these rules (which include character advancement)
