Slade is a Colorado transplant from British Columbia, Canada. He started gaming in basements in the early 90s, mainly playing Advanced Dungeons and Dragons in his DM’s homebrew world. In university, he played a lot of White Wolf games and learnt about Apocalypse World. Since then, he played a lot of story games, attended a few conventions (during which he met several of his heroes, including Paul Czege), and started writing his own hacks and games. His most popular titles include The Indie Hack (2016); Dust, Fog, and Glowing Embers (2017); and ANNA-X66 (2021). His games aim to challenge the underlying logic of authoritarianism and give opportunities for players to practice building and protecting their communities. Slade always has a game in the works.
